Nowadays, the youth has been too pre-occupied with the various influences of the media, internet, the latest technology, and other trivial activities that they fail to capture the very essence of their role as young citizens of the community. In this diverse environment, therefore, the need to bring together different disciplines into one single package of information arises. Moreover, the Our Lady of Sorrows Parish is a comparatively large community of different lifestyles. So to even out these differences, the creation of a universal medium of communicating with the young population is called for.
You Venture, Juventus! brings constant awareness to the general public regarding the youth’s active involvement in the Parish and community. It is one way of providing results and showcasing prolific achievements that will inspire young people to participate in worthwhile activities. It exposes what the youth is truly capable of. Also, this newsletter aids in divulging useful youth-oriented facts that may not be readily available to some. With this kind of publication circulating in the local community, we can be a step closer to uniting young individuals with different outlooks into one Ministry.
As the official publication of the Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Youth Ministry, YVJ encompasses a variety of information bounded by the interests, concerns, and matters of the youth. Hence, it is more than just a newsletter specifically for, of, and by the youth.

OBJECTIVES

General Objective
You Venture, Juventus! aims to become the primary medium for the dissemination of youth-oriented news and information in the Our Lady of Sorrows Parish.
Specific Objectives
    • To serve as a periodic accomplishment report for the programs and activities organized and implemented by Juventus, the Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Youth Ministry.
    • To publicize the Parish Youth Ministry and demonstrate its role in the community.
    • To encourage more young people to join and participate in the life, ministry, and work of the Catholic faith community.
    • To introduce and promote the upcoming programs and activities of the Ministry.
    • To expose the reality of the immediate concerns of the youth within the Parish, most especially those who are attention-deprived and often neglected, and seek ways to effectively transform their way of living.
    • To promote awareness, responsiveness, and involvement among the youth regarding the principal issues in our society and environment, be it locally or globally.
    • To deliver youth-oriented information that will be beneficial to the upright growth of each young individual.
    • To convey necessary details on various opportunities and extra-parochial programs and activities that are essential to the youth’s development towards becoming responsible citizens.
    • To provide a venue for aspiring writers and journalists among the members of the Ministry where they can exercise and improve their writing abilities and cultivate their critical thinking, as well as to stir up from other members the interest in literature and journalism.
This newsletter is exclusively dedicated to matters and affairs pertaining to the youth, particularly the young parishioners of Our Lady of Sorrows. The content is be governed by three principles: for the youth, of the youth, and by the youth. It is not, in any way, elaborative on news and issues (whether parochial or not) that are not pertinent to the Vision and Mission of the Parish Youth Ministry. Rather, it focuses more on the involvement and endeavors of the youth of the Parish. The conditions, however, may go beyond the parish level provided that there exists a direct participation of the Parish Youth Ministry, its members, or the local youth in general. In addition, the newsletter may cater honest opinion and fair viewpoints from among the members of the Ministry to instigate fresh understanding of some prominent issues, whether they directly or indirectly involve the youth.
YVJ is circulated semi-annually (i.e. two issues per year) among members of the youth body, parishioners, affiliates, the sponsors, and other interested public figures. It shall be distributed for free and it is by no means a source of income for the Youth Ministry or its members.
